High-quality, inventive ice cream without the sticker shock - life without Glace is not a life I want to live. So far, I have been here at least once per month and have had: - Bananas Foster - Goat Cheese & Cherries - French Lavender - Coconut Sorbet - Mango Passion Fruit Sorbet - Salted Pretzel - Farmer Bob's Sweet Corn - Strawberry Balsamic - Fleur de Sel Caramel Go treat yoself. You'll thank me later.

I've been living in KC for 1 year and 3 months, and I waited 1 year and 3 months too long before coming to this place. I had heard a lot of great things about Glacé and just recently made it here - oh my YUM. Probably a good thing I don't live within walking distance, otherwise i would be here A LOT. They had a pretty decent selection of ice cream flavors, and I liked that there were some classic favorites (vanilla, chocolate, ETA) along with some more unconventional flavors (French lavender, anyone?) I opted for a scoop of the French lavender and a scoop of the fleur de sel caramel. SOOO GOOD. The ice cream is perfectly smooth and creamy and the flavors were on point. If you haven't been to Glace yet...get ye self here ASAP!

This place offers a great variety of ice cream with unique flavors you won't find anywhere else. Make sure you get some samples before committing; the decision won't be easy. The raspberry chocolate flake and the cream cheese ice cream were amazing. And the Christopher elbow dark chocolate was rich and dense and delicious. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of their ice cream, about 5.50 for a two scoop sundae.
(5)Tyler Z.
Very good ice cream! I really recommend checking this place out at some point. The ice cream is a lot better than what you can get at a chain place. Everything is high quality and the price doesn't seem that bad. I love the new flavor a they always have going on. They had a corn flavored ice cream when we went and it was SHOCKINGLY good. Highly suggest getting 2 samples before ordering 2 different scoops! Check something odd out. You won't regret it.

How I don't weigh 300lbs with Glacé just down the street, I do not know. This place serves some fantastic gelato and sorbets!! Their staff is, in general, very nice and cheerful. They have some old standbys like Fleur de Sel or Christopher Elbow dark chocolate, but the also have a few options that rotate. I saw Pineapple Cilantro sorbet, which sounded so good!! I love that the employees don't mind letting you taste any flavor you want until you've made up your mind (which is great for me, the indecisive one). I can't resist a good waffle cone in the warmer weather...heck, anytime of the year, if I'm being honest!! Tonight I got a cone with Caramelized Pineapple and Sicilian (candied orange, pistachio...and smtg else), loved it. I really appreciate that they let you split between two flavors and sometimes more, depending on what size you get. Did I mention I can be indecisive? They also have pre-packaged gelato for you to take home in pints for $7.50 and they sell Christopher Elbow chocolate bars and coffee. The quality of the gelato is apparent from the first taste as it melts in your mouth. Don't waver on your decision, just go. You'll be glad you did!

Creamy, delicious, milky substance in my mouf. I was brought to Glace based on the amazing reviews...though a bit put off by the slightly douchey name. I'm a jerk, I know. Well the guys working in the shop were just so friendly and happy, they had my mind changed right away on Glace-with-an-accent-artisanal's frozen desserts. Any aire of snootiness my preconceived notions had in mind dissipated and I then became excited to order some yumyums. $3.50 for 2 scoops or $4.50 for 3 scoops...Being a girl who doesn't like to pass up a bargain, I went for 3 nomz! I'm a tried and true chocolate girl so had to get their signature Elbow Milk & Dark Chocolate but couldn't pass up getting Goat Cheese & Wildflower Honey - it just sounded so intriguing and delicious. The flavors lived up to the delicious sounding name and I licked up every drop of that stuff. Apparently Christopher Elbow is a fancy chocolate shop in KC and the chocolate ice cream is derived from that. Loved it. Perfectly smooth, great flavor and was surprised yet delighted with the bit of spice kick I got in it. Glacé, I'm sorry for prejudging you thinking you'd be a uppity ho, you're actually just a down to earth kinda chick with good prices, good goods and great service.

Been a big fan for awhile, and I don't even really like ice-cream. High quality ingredients, rich and unique flavors/combinations you won't find anywhere else. So good I'm always tempted to ask to sample everything. Become a KC staple. Need a creamy dessert fix? Get your arse on over there.
(4)Sophia Z.
I don't want to know how much money I've spent here!! Their ice cream is on another level that chain ice cream stores just can't even touch. It melts in your mouth and tastes like it was made that morning. They offer local flavors- like Christopher elbow dark chocolate, and offer new unique flavors every week- like bobs sweet corn! My personal favorite is the honey lavender because it tastes like walking through a field of flowers on a beautiful breezy summer day. The Christopher elbow chocolate is another standby favorite because it is so rich and creamy! Everything is good however... And they are really nice about letting you try as many flavors as you want! I usually try two and then go with my favorites.

I don't know how I could even consider giving Glace anything less than 5 stars. I heard about this place from an article I read in Thrillist Magazine stating it was the best ice cream in Missouri, so obviously I had to check it out for myself. Glace is a culinary experience in my opinion; meaning that its not just typical ice cream you are getting. The flavors and textures are redefining to the palette! I just feel bad for the servers who have to give me samples of every single flavor before being able to decide on just a couple. I have found that there aren't a ton of ice cream options in KC but thankfully there is one amazing option that would blow any possible competition out of the water. My new favorite go-to when I have the sweet tooth! Skip the same old Blue Bunny and drive down to the Plaza and experience some of the best ice cream you will ever taste!
(5)Katie W.
Roasted radish and goat cheese? So good! Christopher Elbow chocolate? This is what chocolate is supposed to taste like. Vanilla orange is super refreshing. The coffee is as coffee-ish as I've ever sampled. I'm looking forward to trying more combinations this summer. Simple and plainly decorated...it doesn't matter. The ice cream is the divine! Treat yourself.

I live so close to this place that I'm sure I'll put on the "Glacé 15". It's some of the best ice cream in the entire city and they have seemingly endless, creative flavors. Has anyone else noticed that there is a shockingly low amount of quality ice cream places in Kansas City? There are lots that serve 'Blue Bunny' and other store bought ones, but I'm talking about good, local, homemade ice cream. [Side note, I love Sylas & Maddy's in Lawrence, and that's the perfect 5 star kind of spot I'm always on the hunt for] Anyways, Glacé helps fit that need by providing some of the most decadent ice cream flavors I've ever tried. Christopher Elbow, the famed KC chocolatier, brings his creative palette into the ice cream world and it's usually pretty fantastic. Most of the flavors are so rich, almost too rich for me in some regards. Some of my favorites over the years: -Salted pretzel - I think it's always available and sort of a key flavor - Bob's 47 - This Boulevard beer ice cream is one of their best and is a fall seasonal. - Chocolate orange - just tried this and it's amazing. - All the sorbets - a good balancer when the others are too rich. I've had a few I wasn't as crazy about, but that's mainly a personal taste thing. So TL;DR: Best ice cream in KC, albeit a tad rich. A little goes a long way and you'll always find an amazing flavor combo here.

Glace is part of the new breed of ice cream shops that are modern with very creative flavors. We stopped by while on vacation in Kansas City, and sampled a few flavors before we finally settled on two. The people who work there are super nice and patient, and don't discourage you from sampling whatever flavors you want. We tried: -Butterscotch Bourbon: Too much bourbon flavor for my liking, since it left a bitter aftertaste. -Fleur de Sel Caramel: Pretty good, but not the best salted caramel I've had. -Caramelized Pineapple: I actually really liked this one, but got vetoed for the final selections. The pineapple was sweet and perfectly caramelized. -2 Scoops (Malted Milk, Salted Pretzel, $3.50, yelp.com/biz_photos/glac… ): The Malted Milk was my favorite, and had a good malt flavor (although it's more subtle compared to their other flavors). The Salted Pretzel was also good, since it had more texture with the pretzel pieces, but the flavor was very strong. I would definitely get the malted milk again, but probably not the salted pretzel. Overall, I was very impressed by the different flavors they had here, and would recommend Glace to any ice cream lover! They have a few small tables and stools to sit at if you want to eat your ice cream there. Parking isn't too bad since there is street parking available as well as a lot behind this small plaza.

Finding good ice cream is always in my agenda when I go to a new city. In Kansas City, Glacé Artisan Ice Cream is what caught my attention, and I refused to leave the city until I have tried their ice cream. We came in a few minutes after they opened on a Sunday. The employee who helped us obviously has not had coffee yet and was a bit curt. No matter, I just figured she was not expecting anybody to come in until after church. But we are heathens in want of ice cream and were in a rush to get our road trip going. Sorry, miss. She may have been curt, but she at least did not frown when I asked for a taste of at least ten flavors. Everything was delicious: Vietnamese cinnamon, Elbow dark chocolate, spiced dark chocolate, Farmer Bob's sweet corn, fleur de sel caramel, French lavender, Mirabelle plum sorbet... If Glacé were near me, I can easily see myself getting these flavors on a regular basis. But for this visit, I settled on goat cheese and wildberry honey, bananas foster, and blackberry chocolate flake. They were all very flavorful and were just the best way to start a day. My friend ordered the special, Lemon Bar Sundae, which came with the lemon curd and salted pretzel ice creams with raspberry sauce, shortbread and whipped cream. It was very refreshing and quite tasty. It is a shame I do not live in KC. If I did, Glacé would be one of my treats of choice.
(4)Melissa T H.
Small shop, ice creams packed with intense clean flavor! We ordered the triple scoop ($4.50) Indonesian Cinnamon, Fleur de Sal Caramel and Pumpkin. The three flavors worked well together. I do confess, the Fleur de Sal Caramel was ultra rich, almost too rich; I couldn't have finished it on my own, so I'm glad that I split with my hubby. We both agree though that the Indonesian Cinnamon was soooo amazing we could indulge all day. We sampled the goat cheese/wildflower honey was delicious, and I suspect would pair well with the French Lavendar...next time!

I was recently introduced to Christopher Elbow chocolate and am obsessed. Then, on fox4kc they had a segment on this ice cream store. I did not think it could get any better than the creamy delicious chocolates offered at his chocolate store on Magee but Mr. Elbow, you have outdone yourself! It was so difficult to decide on a flavor so of course I had three scoops! The fleur de sel Carmel is my favorite. The mixture of creaminess, salt, and sweetness was a flavor explosion. Second in line is the strawberry balsamic. Sounds weird, but believe me... It's amazing!!! I will be back tomorrow!
(5)Marissa W.
Veryyyy tasty!!! I would recommend it to anyone. I got 2 scoops for $3.75. I got the PT's Coffee and Honey Lavender. Freaking amazeballs! I don't do regular ice cream so much because it's kind of heavy for my stomach. BUT I'm sure I'll be sneaking away from froyo to come here. It's great if you want to treat yourself every now and then! I only gave it 4 starts for the pricing. I just felt like more than $4 with tax for two baby scoops was a little steep but hey, it is artisan ice cream. And maybe the person at the counter just didn't feel like hooking me up. I'm sure I'll be back, just not that often.
(4)Chris E.
Goat Cheese? Sage? Whisky? Whoda-thunk? My favorite local ice-cream joint! they really embrace the local attitude with Christopher Elbow chocolates, PT's coffee and other ingredients and favors found in KC. I would strongly suggest just diving in with samples! Try, try, TRY! its always such a decision to have to pick only two or three flavors cause I always want them all! The service is always great, they know going in you are going to want a million samples and rave about every one of them, and they serve it all with a smile. Once you are able to narrow your search down to a few, they prices for this premium ice-cream is actually quite reasonable, also if your in the need for some to go or if your just too obsessed with the Dark Venezuelan Chocolate and you need a gallon of it now! They can accommodate ya with several varieties in a fridge for quick access. Christopher Elbow is very particular about where his chocolates can be sold or what can have his name on it, but Glace fits the bill perfectly so you can grab some of his signature products in the store if your not into waiting in line at his flagship store downtown. After much deliberation i cannot suggest a few flavors, I can honestly say there was nothing I've tried there (weird or not) that I wouldn't eat a pint of easily. So, go, sample and Enjoy!
(5)M R.
One of the most unique and absolutely delicious ice cream stops I have ever had the pleasure to experience. The flavors were FANTASTIC. Brown sugar and sour cream, bananas foster and the elbow dark chocolate were all phenomenal. Like, I would literally take all friends who ever visited me here. The elbow dark chocolate was notably scrumptious. YURM.
(5)Wendy P.
Delicious ice cream and tons of unique flavors! I would be a regular if I wasn't from out of state.
(5)Jackson L.
There is no doubt that Glacé is non other than a culinary experience! I normally visit the one in Leawood and that is our staple glacé because of how close it is to home, but being downtown we decided to try this one! Like always I was very pleased with all their abstract flavor a of ice cream! If you come here and expect to just get a vanilla or chocolate ice cream cone this isn't really the place for that! All of the flavors here are infused with natural ingredients found from the earth with no artificial flavors dyes or coloring. This glacé had many more choices than the one in Leawood and this one even offered Malts! When we did arrive it seemed to collect a very big crowd from the neighborhood surrounding it which made for a slightly long line but non the less they got us out really quick with some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted! I don't know why anyone would give this place any less than 5 stars! Definitely will be returning!
(5)Katherine J.
Very good ice cream, what else to add? It's unique, flavorful and always delicious. It's definitely high-brow ice cream. I can appreciate fro-yo, custard and Ben & Jerry's pints. You can't compare that to Glace. Think of this like the finish to a fine meal. Not an indulgent sugar high. That said, try it.
(4)Catlin P.
This is simply a MUST while in Kansas City. There is about 20 flavors to choose from at all times, some of which get cycled out. Personally, I recommend the Bananas Foster. If you're in the mood for ice cream/ gelato then you need to go. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Susan C.
Even at 9:30pm, the line was out the door! This isn't your typical Cold Stone Creamery ice cream joint. We each got three scoops (hashtag fatties)...the Elbow Chocolate, Peanut Butter Swirl, French Lavender and Madagascar Vanilla. Next time, we'll have to plan our scoops a little better so we can try more flavors. The French Lavender was so smooth and creamy...but my favorite, hands down, was the PB Swirl. I mean...peanut butter + chocolate? Yes, please. Regular (Three Scoops) - $4.50
(4)Dana H.
Amazing flavors of ice cream they are not your ordinary ice cream shop...Have an open mind and your tummy will follow :)
(5)Neal G.
The best ice cream I've ever tasted. My favorite is the Christopher Elbow dark chocolate and coffee mixed. The surprising new flavors every visit make it hard not to go every day. The basil mint sorbet, the root beer floats, the sundaes. Everything is killer.
(5)Todd H.
By far the best gourmet ice cream you can get! Heck, the best ice cream overall. With flavors like port red wine and fig, salted pretzel, a boulevard beer flavor the month in season and many more that will please everyone. Get a small as the nice cream is rich. The ingredients used are top notch and it shows in the flavors of the ice cream.
(5)Yembur A.
I dream about their cinnamon ice cream on the DAILY. It's basically sweet creamy unicorn tears and I want to jump into a vat of it. That is all.
(5)Mark M.
A MUST VISIT when in the Plaza Area. The line out the door is well worth the wait. Just don't stand with the door open "No soup for you!".
(5)Daniella E.
One word: Fantastic! Clean and modern ice cream parlor with a bunch of mixed flavors. I'm not talking about your standard chocolate and vanilla... Blueberry and cream cheese, fresh mint, cucumber lime, rhubarb, peanut butter chocolate swirl.
(5)Keith J.
I had the most amazing coconut sorbet today! I've never had a bad experience at Glacé, and I look forwarding to treating myself again--SOON!
(5)Caroline C.
This place has really great flavors and a nice ambiance on the inside with it's modern decor. They have interesting rotating flavors such as honey lavender, earl grey, chai, spicy chocolate, and coconut sorbet. The ice cream has more of a gelato texture. I tend to prefer my ice cream on the flakier side. I ordered the caramel and spicy chocolate and thought there was a bit too much cayenne in the spicy chocolate. The caramel was good. I vote for them to make it a sea salt caramel. The sugar : flavor was overwhelmingly sugar. With that said, I think that BiRite (SF) and Odd Fellows (NYC) does a better job with balancing the flavor:sugar ratio.
(3)Kara K.
Just go. It's amazing stuff; this time I had French Lavender and Goat Cheese & Wildflower Honey. I will be back!
(5)Janet P.
Yummo!! My boyfriend said it was probably the best ice cream he's had in his life! That's quite the assertion!! I got lime and grapefruit sorbet, super refreshing. He enjoyed the chocolate and salted pretzel ice cream. Their ice cream is so smooth and the texture is different from other ice creams I've had. Definitely give it a try, especially the pretzel, surprisingly yummy even though I generally hate pretzel
(5)Bryan A.
If you haven't been to Glace, please do yourself and your palette a favor and go immediately!! The flavors are out of this world and the consistency from location to location is amazing. The have some interesting flavor combos that in any other setting might not taste the best to me, but the ice cream magic they apply makes it sublime!! Can't wait to be back in the area and get some more!! Please open a location in St.Louis!!!
(5)Benjamin F.
Meeeeeeeh what? They've got Goat cheese Honey Ice Cream. 5* Too sweet for you? Try their Salted Pretzel... ice cream. 5*
(5)Sara M.
The icee cream is excellent. The flavors are delicious. Try one that sounds crazy; you'll probably like it. They will give you tastes of anything. Very reasonably priced as well.
(4)Heath E.
Fantastic ice cream & sorbets. Generally have between 20-25 different flavors available, ranging from the basics to quite unique. Many of the flavors incorporate products from other KC vendors. Most recently, they had an expresso flavor using PT's Coffee & a dark chocolate from Christopher Elbow's. Sit out front after purchasing, and enjoy!
(5)Victoria W.
Best ice I've ever had, hands down. Better than blue bell and braums, and those two are close to my heart. The ice cream was thick and creamy, none of that airy nonsense. Best of all was the FLAVOR! Roasted macadamia nut flavor tasted heavenly, you could actually taste the macadamia. The elbow dark chocolate tasted like I was literally eating a real chocolate bar, the flavor is so intense.
(5)Cristi S.
We have found a new favorite place! After lunch at spin, we went next door and got a sundae to split ($5.50) it comes with 2 scoops. We got goat cheese and honey for our first scoop and spices dark chocolate for the other. Both were soooo good!!!! We agreed the goat cheese was our favorite of the two. I can't wait to try more! I love my froyo, but this is definitely my new ice cream spot!
(5)Shannon M.
We swung in here because Murray's ice cream was closed (really? in the summer?) and were treated to great service and creative flavors. The girl at the counter let us sample the varieties. I deliberated a while. The mint flavor was a bit too soft, not as pronounced as I'd like, but maybe because I'd just tried the powerful cinnamon, which was fragrant and sweet, like cinnamon sugar. I finally went with two scoops: dark chocolate and lavendar. I normally don't even like lavendar in soap and such but was lured by its gentle sweetness and perfume. Combined with the rich chocolate it made for an interesting yin-yang sort of juxtaposition. The shop is small and spare but they also sell drinks and chocolate, and there is a bit of outdoor seating. Glace is the perfect stop if you want a cold treat with an out-of-the-ordinary taste.
(5)Rachel L.
We're visiting from STL and goggled "ice cream near me." We picked Glacé from the reviews and it was impressive! Together we tasted about 6 before ordering (very patient and helpful staff) then ordered: bananas Foster, elbow dark chocolate, pt's roasting co, cream cheese and the caramel flavor. All very delicious!!
(4)Javier G.
Tastes really good. Reasonable prices.
(5)Nilav R.
This place uses local ingredients and creates some of the most delicious ice cream I've had in the Kansas City area. Please check out their dark chocolate elbow, it's amazing!
(5)Daniel K.
Lactose Intolerance get thee Hence!!!! Long Hair Dont Care... I LOVE me Glace... Why?! Its creamy and thick... and we all know how I like em thick! The flavors are not synthetically tasting. The consistency is so great. I love eating this stuff in the cold because it dont melt when its 12 degrees outside! You can just sit and enjoy your Glace and know it will all go in the way its meant to... Frozen. There is a cautionary tale though... You WILL get fat.
(5)Kathy L.
Let me start off saying that the ice cream is delicious. I had the goat cheese and wildflower honey/ Vietnamese cinnamon. Yummy! However the people who work here had the personality of dry toast and seemed annoyed I came in. I would have gotten more ice cream but I felt unwelcome.
(3)Michele N.
All ice cream is NOT created equal; Glacé is definitely superior! The flavor offerings are the first noticeable difference - goat cheese w/pear, butternut squash/cinnamon, sweet potato/marshmallow, and bananas foster to name a few. We spent quite a while tasting many of the various flavors, and the servers did not seem to get annoyed (thanks)! I just couldn't wrap my head around some of the flavors until I tasted them, and then I fell in love with each one of them! I finally settled on the Christopher Elbow spicy chocolate (think of frozen Mexican hot chocolate - divine) and the salted Caramel. My husband had the goat cheese w/pear, which was better than you could ever imagine. Glacé is the real deal...real ice cream, really cool flavors, a real treat! I can't wait to come back. And if you really fall in love with a flavor, they have prepacked containers available in a freezer in the front. Christopher Elbow, you are an amazing artisan of chocolate and ice cream - thanks for the extra special treats you provide to Kansas City!
(5)Anthony N.
***Glace serves very good ice cream, but it is a notch below the great ice cream spots (Bi-Rite Creamery, Sweet Rose Creamery and Jeni's) because those places feature stronger flavors and better consistencies (Glace ice cream was very smooth and creamy but a tad soft)*** Glace is a gourmet ice cream shop near downtown Kansas City. The shop immediately reminded me of Jeni's in Ohio. The shop has a very contemporary decor and features both gourmet flavors and toppings. Like Jeni's, there is a mix of classic flavors (like peanut butter chocolate swirl) and some non-traditional flavors (like sweet corn). With some of their non-traditional flavors, I did not get the distinct flavor I was expecting (though I did like them). I liked the banana fosters and it had a good banana flavor, but it lacked the banana and caramel intensity of the bananas fosters chocolate from Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates (which also operates Glace). The salty pretzel had a good salty flavor though I do not know if I would immediately think pretzel when having it. The traditional flavors were good. The dark chocolate was good and very ganache-like (it was incredibly rich). The peanut butter chocolate swirl had a very intense peanut butter flavor. Overall, I liked the flavors at Glace though I do think some of them could have been a little better. The texture of the ice cream was very gelato-like. The ice cream was very smooth and creamy and had that soft texture of gelato. I would have preferred a firmer ice cream, but it was still good. Prices were not too bad (about what you would expect to pay for gourmet ice cream). Service was good and quick. Glace is a good ice cream shop with good flavors and good texture. I would not put it up there with my favorite ice cream shops like Jeni's in Ohio or Sweet Rose Creamery in Brentwood, but it is still a nice spot for a sweet treat. And with their offering of very inviting flavors like fleur de sel caramel, goat cheese and honey, spiced carrot, and Vietnamese coffee, it is definitely one to try if you are looking for good upscale ice cream in Kansas City. You can find free parking on the street.
(4)Amanda J.
Soooooo good! This was recommended to us, as a must stop. It was a bit off the beaten path, but totally worth the detour! Homemade ice cream with fun flavors, our favorites were salted pretzel and the caramel!
(5)Victoria H.
We came here after eating at SPIN, the pizza place next door. The flavors offered were original, not your typical Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry flavors. The staff were really nice and let us sample as many flavors as we needed to make a choice. I choose Bananas Foster and Cinnamon, yeah, I know I'm kinda boring. Anyway, it was $3.50 for a small which is two scoops and it's $4.50 for a regular which is 3 scoops. There's a small seating area outdoors and an even smaller seating area indoors. I wouldn't race back here because I'm not close by, but I would stop by if I was craving ice cream and in the area.
(4)Shawn H.
hey, I don't like ice cream but this stuff is really good. They had Goat Cheese and wildflower honey gelato, gotta be gelato even though people are calling it ice cream. My goodness what a satisfying flavor. Ice water left out for the customers convenience because this stuff makes you very thirsty. Clean, cool, environment with tasty unique gelato, tucked right off the plaza, I'm sure we'll be back.
(5)John C.
Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. If you are ever in Kansas City come here.
(5)Dennis W.
I (...like just about everyone who's ever left a review on this place apparently) love everything about Glace. Raining superlatives upon this delightfully cool little shop is nearly as much a joy as ordering a scoop of anything in the case. Trust the reviews (or, just ask for a sample... and let your taste buds do the trusting for you). The concept is blindingly simple and superbly executed on a consistent basis. There's variety to be had here, but don't expect a wide array of toppings or to order a heaping sundae. Glace, in keeping the shop and portions small, has it right. Prices are a bit higher than you might expect, but by no means prohibitive (with tip, I bought two smalls for $9). The difference in quality is immediately apparent. Flavors, both the more exotic ones as well as conventional choices, are indulgent and extremely rich; a small amount goes a long way. Almost more reminiscent of gelato than many lesser ice creams, the presence of Glace alone gives credence to the argument that KC has ice cream rivaling the best in the nation.
(5)Shawn B.
This is quite honestly the best ice cream you will ever taste - such a delicate balance of flavor and texture. Put it on your bucket list. Want to cut straight to the nirvana chase? Get a large honey&goat cheese, lavender and spicy dark chocolate. You're welcome.
(5)Kim N.
Glacé is my favorite cold treat place. The reason they are my favorite is because they have several dairy free options. If we're on the plaza my husband and I usually stop in here on our way back home and will grab a scoop or two of our favorite treat. Service here is quick and friendly, and they don't mind handing out taste. You can even get pints to go. This is the perfect place for a summer evening to sit outside enjoying your cold ice cream or sorbet and people watching. When we have out of town friends come in we make special trips down here for them to eat at Glacé. They have some the most creative and tasty treats you will ever find.
(5)Laurel S.
After dinner on the plaza we decided to "yelp" a dessert place and came across this gem. So much fun and so delicious. And given that a trip to Sheridan's (which doesn't even compare!) for 2 would be over $10 I thought this was very reasonably priced. Can't wait to take my daughter!
(5)Kevin R.
Really good ice cream with unique flavors - win and win.
(4)meli l.
Glace's ice creams are consistently spectacular. There are a lot of options for folks who don't want super-ultra sweet (goat cheese, cream cheese, creme fraiche, tons of fruit flavors), sorbet options and frozen fruit bars. I'm docking two stars because the past few times we've gone, my friends have been unlucky with their milkshakes and malts. Every time they have been room temperature (GROSS) and the malts didn't have nearly enough malted flavor. I normally don't mind the prices - I'm happy to pay for quality. But if we're paying for quality, it needs to be there every time.
(3)Brent K.
I can say nothing bad about this superb kansas city original. we eat at spin next door quite a lot and often times come out and the kid is craving more ice cream. well, you're in luck kid, there's Glace next door and their ice cream has to be top 3 ice creams in the world. last time we went they had a pumpkin spice sunday that came with candied walnuts and home made whipped stuff on top. it made me cry. i cried and ate it and cried some more. delicious. they have enough flavors that even picky kids will find something to like and the prices are a little steep, but totally worth it. Aplus for Glace. yup.

Glace was named one of the top ice cream spots in the US, and it's true!! This was the reason we stopped in Kansas City on our cross-country road trip, and it was well worth it. Easy to find in a less busy section of town; we were able to park across the street without issue. Service was excellent-- plenty of samples! And the ice cream was the best we had ever eaten. The great part is that they let you choose two different flavors, even in a size small!! I went with the bananas foster & vietnamese cinnamon-- amazing!! Almost went with the goat cheese w/ wildflower honey just because I love goat cheese and it was so unique. My sister chose coffee & cream cheese and of course it was wonderful, as well. Also, the pricing was perfectly reasonable for gourmet ice cream. Coldstone is pricier and Glace is far superior.

I cannot get enough of this place. Locally sourced ingredients and Kansas City backed flavors make what is easily the most delicious ice cream I've ever had even better. The Christopher Elbow Dark Chocolate ice cream is NOT to be missed! Absolutely phenomenal. The PTs Coffee ice cream is delicious, too, and so is every single other flavor I've tried (plus they change the flavors pretty regularly, so there's always something new and awesome and sometimes weird, to enjoy). This is the best dessert in Kansas City, and my only complaint is there isn't one in the Northland! I'd be there all the time.

Love the pretzel ice cream, staff was friendly and service was prompt.

Holy moly this place is amazing! The place has a modern feel and design. You feel like you are in the next frontier of ice cream. Not much seating but very niche spot so no biggie. Ice cream is amazing! Love the coffee and I had the goat cheese and honey, which is weird yet awesome! Try it at the very least. Great size serving for the price. Just wish they displayed calories.

The concept of Glacé Artisan Ice Cream is fail-proof. Use the best chocolate connoisseur in Kansas City (Christopher Elbow), combine with all-natural ice cream and sprinkle in some interesting flavor combinations. It's one of the best things you will put in your mouth. Glacé has a rotating selection of 24 delicious flavors and sampling is encouraged. The guy behind the counter was very patient as I tried the Fresh Mint Chip, Bananas Foster, Chocolate Almond, Classic Strawberry, Salted Pretzel and Cream Cheese. I truly enjoyed each flavor, but there were two easy winners - Salted Pretzel and Chocolate Almond. Everything is true to its name...the Salted Pretzel tastes like a doughy, sweet pretzel with a little salty kick at the end. The Chocolate Almond was an easy pick because, HELLO, it's made with Christopher Elbow chocolate complimented by thin slivers of almond. Glacé is a ice cream at its purest. You can taste the quality and freshness of the product and everything tastes like the real thing. They use ingredients such as fresh mint, organic coffee, lavender, goat cheese...I mean, come on, you're not going to find this at your local Dairy Queen. That being said, the quality won't cost you - a small cup with two flavors is only $3.50.

Three words: spiced dark chocolate. That is all. Well, almost. The staff was nice and very tolerant of my big group trying literally every flavor in the case. I tried several, staying away from those with "cake" or "pie" in the name (due to the GF status I keep to avoid being sick) but I wasn't disappointed in the selection. I enjoyed the lavender a lot and the caramel. Obviously I loved the spice chocolate the most. One no-go: creme fraiche. It was wayyyy to light and clean tasting to feel like you were eating ice cream. If I'm going to "spend calories" I'm going to really really want to enjoy it, feel it. =D

I usually like ice cream. I'm not obsessed with it, but if it's there, I'll take it. If it's free and as good as Glace, I'll scarf it down. On this specific day, it was both free and Glace. After dinner on a Monday night, a bunch of us strolled over to a surprisingly busy Glace. They have a nice mix of "regular" flavors and unusual flavors. I chose both - a side-by-side, per se, of Goat Cheese and Dark Chocolate. The dark chocolate was amazingly delicious - rich and creamy with a nice cacao flavor to it. The goat cheese was one I definitely had to sample ahead before getting the full scoop, but I am glad I tried it. The creaminess of goat cheese came through big time, but in reality I could only actually taste goat cheese every third or fourth bite. Besides that, it tasted like the other ingredient...I don't remember what it was - honey, some kind of fruit? My mind is blanking. But seriously, try the goat cheese. Service was meh. It got the job done. Prices are fair for the quality.

We have been trying to get to this place for the past five days while visiting KC. This is a must-go-to place for anyone who appreciates the art of ice cream. They have some very unique and robust flavors - some of which are completely unexpected. We had the Goat Cheese and Wildflower Honey (yes goat cheese), Fresh Mint, Bananas Foster, and Creme Fraiche. All were excellent. The staff really exhibited patience while we asked for sample after sample - Thank you for being patient. If you love ice cream, you must visit this place and try something unique and out of the ordinary.
(5)LeAnn A.
Never heard of the place until a couple of my Yelping friends took me there and I was very pleasantry surprised by the flavor I chose. After trying half the flavors, I went with the Strawberry Balsamic. I believe they even change out some of the flavors as the seasons go. They even have where you can by little cartons to go so you can enjoy it at home also. I really enjoyed the place, it was a clean and very nice and the guy working behind the counter was humorous as well. Was a little pricey but it was great!!!
(4)Aarushi G.
My boyfriend and I tried the fleur de sel caramel and the wildflower honey/cream cheese flavors. It was like eating sweet, cold butter in a cup -- delicious and creamy!! I have not had an ice-cream of such rich, sweet-creamy texture before and really enjoyed it. They are also reasonably priced which was a plus. I will definitely be going back!
(5)Shereen A.
Hands down, one of the top ten best ice cream places of my life. The quality of this ice cream is seriously some of the best I've had. I tried many flavors but decided on the fleur de sel caramel. The store is simplicity at its best. Less is more. I wanted to pack the store in my suitcase and bring it back to my place in Seattle. Yes please, unlimited, fresh, non traditional, delicious ice cream right at my service. I wish! Anyways, try this place, come back for seconds, thirds, and fourths. Please bring back fifths for me, I'll gladly accept it in the form of a "meltshake".
(4)Israel A.
This place is conveniently next door to Spin! Neapolitan Pizza (where we had dinner). Decided to try it and sit on one of the outdoor benches to people watch for a bit. The customer service was great and the ice cream was good too! Id recommend it if you were in the area.
(4)Dan B.
Best ice cream in the city. I highly suggest the coffee flavored ice cream.
(5)Allie M.
I had a great experience at Glacé. The store associate who helped us was so enthusiastic about all the flavors. She was extremely knowledgeable and allowed us to try a few different flavors. The flavors are so unique and are crafted in such a way that it makes them so tasty. Having never been there, it was nice to be welcomed and allowed to take our time to decide. Literally everything was so delicious. I don't have a single complaint.
(5)Angela J.
5 stars all the way, every time. If you haven't gone you should seriously ask yourself why. Heaven on earth.
(5)Chelsey G.
Great shop! Really creamy and unique flavors. 3.50 for 2 scoops. The creamy coconut and salted pretzel are amazing!
(5)Heather C.
Glace Ice Cream is fantastic!!! I am not one for weird pairings or flavors when it comes to ice cream but Glace makes you want to try new and weird flavors. Most of their flavors I would never dream of trying (bananas foster being one) but their flavors are extremely tasty. The best part is that with each flavor you taste every ingredient. Nothing is over powering or over the top. The customer service is great every time. This goes for both locations.
(5)Miranda S.
I give it 4 stars! It was our first time there and the lady let us try out any flavor we wanted before we made our final decision. My favorite was salted pretzel and my boyfriend went with the coffee. The real mint chocolate was another one of my favorites too. I will definitely be going back to try more unique flavors.
(4)Geoff S.
Some of the best ice cream I've ever had, and at surprisingly reasonable prices!
(5)Jen D.
I'm not sure if I can add to what has already been said about Glace, besides giving it my full endorsement. Over the past few years, Glace has been a regular summer splurge. I look forward to a random text from my bfff asking if I want to go on a Glace run, the answer is always yes. I love the goat cheese flavor, as well as the sweet corn and lavender. Even though the small size looks tiny, the ice cream is so rich, it's the perfect amount!
(5)Sara D.
First some math: Free samples + cute ice cream boys = a very giggly Sara. Seriously, the boys behind the counter were so stinkin' adorable (granted about 18 years old... much too young for me). They kept handing me as many tiny spoon samples as I wanted, and I just could not stop giggling like a 5 year old in a candy store. Anyway.... After being impressed last summer with their Goat cheese Honey, Basil-lime, and Pineapple Cilantro flavors, I was eager to see how Glace would impress me this summer. I tired the Perisan Spice, Rosemary Caramel, Cucumber Sorbet, and Buttered Popcorn. The first two weren't very flavorful; the latter of the two were AMAZING. The cucumber sorbet was like biting into a juicy, freshly grown cucumber. The sorbet was bursting with flavor; almost overpowering. But I'd rather have too much flavor than too little!! The Buttered popcorn tasted just like a Jelly Belly jelly bean! Stopping by Glace is always on my summer to- do list and once again they surpassed my expectations!
(5)Leslie S.
Was in KC over the weekend, craved some good ice cream/gelato. I found it! Glace is a small place, a few tables inside and a little patio out. So many flavors, it was hard to choose! Spiced Dark Chocolate or Salted Pretzel? Goat Cheese w/Wildflower Honey or Caramelized Pineapple? Maybe 20 flavors all together. I finally picked Bananas Foster and a scoop of French Lavender. Really good! They were not tiny scoops (even though I bought the "small") and well worth the $3.50 I spent. Will definitely stop by again when I am in town!
(5)Madeline S.
Glace is a fun little ice cream shop with good flavors. It's a bit pricey for the small amount you get but the coffee and spiced dark chocolate are kind of worth it. They also have sundaes that look really good, though I have yet to experience one.

Facts: #1) If you drive quickly it is possible to make it from Green Dirt Farm's Farmtable Dinner to Glace before they close. #2) For anyone, the cute girl behind the counter will offer you some free tastes - as expected, Elbow's Dark Chocolate is superlative and the Sweet Corn is a Midwestern Dream. #3) If you're lucky, the cute girl behind the counter will hear your story of a cross-country trip and a drive to make it to Glace mere minutes before they close and give you your ice cream "compliments of the house." #4) If you are smart you'll order the Fleur de Sel Caramel and Salted Pretzel, both intensely creamy and a beautiful balance of salty and sweet, while the server additionally suggests the Cream Cheese - an ice cream that tastes like chilly southern style cream cheese frosting. #5) If you're really smart...or perhaps just gluttonous...you will order the "salty warm caramel" on the side - trust me, as good as the ice cream is, this is probably the best thing in the store with light crystals of salt flecking the intense buttery caramel. #6) After leaving a $5 tip you'll walk to the car and lick out the cup - both the one for the ice cream and the one for the caramel...not that I'd know anything about that.

My boyfriend and I were in KC from Sacramento, CA over the weekend. We were killing time before we had to fly home. I was craving some ice cream and found Glacé. I looked on their website before deciding to drive there. My boyfriend can't have any dairy, so I had to make sure they had sorbets. When I saw they had a few different sorbet choices, we headed over there. There was a huge parking lot behind the building, which was nice. The space was small with a few barstools and a table with chairs. There were a few people in front of us with about 4 young girls behind the counter. They worked very fast, getting the line moving. They did not offer us any samples - which is the reason why I took a star off. I have never been to this place before, it would have been nice to be offered a sample. The people who came in after we ordered were offered samples! I had the small (2 scoops) of Vietnamese Cinnamon and the Banana Foster in a cone. The cone was delicious, very thin and flakey. Both of my flavors were delicious. My boyfriend had the Mirabelle Plum, Strawberry and Kiwi sorbets. He really enjoyed all of them. Good ice cream and sorbets, I just wish we would have been offered samples.

Everything the man touches is gold, and I'm sure that Glace' will be yet another critically acclaimed accomplishment of Kansas City's own, Christopher Elbow. As a chocolatier, he showed us his unique flavor perspective, combining herbs, spices, and chocolate. Now, he's turned his Midas touch to the iconic treat of ice cream. Each ingredient is transformed into it's very essence: pure concentration of flavor. Then, those flavors are intermingled to create a symphony performing on your palate. I decided to maximize my experience by ordering the regular, which means you can choose up to 3 flavors for $4.75. The small is only 1 to 2 flavors for $3.65. Using my vast ice cream experience, I determined that more ice cream, is always better! I am a genius. Glace' will allow you to taste any and all of their exciting varieties. The exceptional flavors that I chose were: Carmalized Banana (the taste is buttery caramel, and intense banana), Venezuelan Spiced Chocolate (rich, luxurious, bittersweet chocolate, with a slow after burn of chilis), Fleur de Sel Caramel (delicate, buttery caramel, with a whisper of salt). Add a sauce of either choclate or Fleur de Sel for just .50. Hand-packed pints for $6.99, allows you the convenience of transporting the object of your obession home, and indulging your whims at a moment's notice. Also on the menu ...Fresh Fruit Freeze pops for $1.50, and an Italian classic, Affogato (a single serving of ice cream topped with Espresso). There is truly something fabulous for any and everyone. This little shop is a Top Shelf flavor sensation. Experience Christopher Elbow's perspective of what ice cream can, and should be. Everyone will be talking about it. The love of Glace' will spread like a wild fire...come fan the flames.

Good. Ice. Cream. The flavor list is decidedly unique (ranging from the salted pretzel to the thai basil and blueberries to the simple vanilla) -- but it's excellent. And, for artisan gourmet ice cream, $4 for a couple of scoops isn't too bad. Only downside is that it's TOO good -- the storefront is way small, for a place that attracts a LOT of business. On a Friday or Saturday night during the summer, expect to wait for your ice cream, then not be able to find a place to sit.

If you ever see me riding down Main street with my head out the car window and screaming bloody murder, it's a good chance that you've just spotted me on the way to Glace. You see, I've been told you are supposed to scream for ice-cream, and I wouldn't want to be denied my Glace on a technicality. Glace is the bomb. End of story. Of course I like it, it's made by Christopher Elbow and is capable of making me really fat. With a combination like that, I didn't have a chance to NOT like it. So you have a couple of choices here at Glace. The first being " do i want a tiny bowl of ice cream with 2 different flavors, or do i want a slightly less small bowl with three flavors?" Get three. Then it's flavor pickin' time. Everything is solid, for sure, but my absolute favorite combo is: Venezuelan Spiced Chocolate, Espresso and Vietnamese Cinnamon. It's a glorious combination. The sorbets are good for the non lacto peeps out there. It's all good for people who like things that are awesome. I would go here so much more often if they were a bit farther North. I hope that someday he decides a downtown Glace location is a worthwhile endeavor.
(5)Marie F.
The flavors are great fun! I felt kinda bad asking to sample them... but I still got a few flavors out of the way before I went out on a limb and ordered. The Strawberry Balsamic was my favorite. The French Lavender was my least favorite ... just wasn't my thing. I did notice that some of the employees will fill the cup so that it is towering and some (like the one who did ours) will make it fit nicely into the cup without any extra above the rim of the cup (because extra ice cream is an inconvenience). So, a big thank you to her and her stinginess. Expensive (5.12 for a Coldstone "Like it" size cup) but the unique flavors are worth paying a little extra for every now and then.
(4)Michelle F.
Sample, sample, sample... it really just made the decision more difficult. SO. MANY. YUMMY. THINGS. And 4, count them 4 different varieties of sorbet. Lactose intolerant? You're no second class citizen here. Since I'm all about the dairy, after much debate I settled on Jude's Rum Cake and Morello Cherry Sorbet. So pretty snuggled up against one another in the cup... I devoured every bite. We took home a container of the Butterscotch Bourbon, can't wait to bust that one open tonight.
(5)Mj J.
I should have said this in a quick comment but.... If you like Rosemary, you HAVE TO try the Rosemary and Honey!!! It's pretty strong so the sample was enough for me but it was so divine!! I settled on 1/2 peanut butter chocolate and 1/2 oatmeal raisin.. this time around. My all time favorite is Lavendar though. If you want a little slice of heaven.. RUN to Glace!!!
(5)Amy B.
My better half and I decided to try Glacé Artisan Ice Cream last Saturday. Kansas City was sweltering hot and we need to cool off. We had lunch at Planet Sub a couple doors down and figured it would be a perfect opportunity to try Glacé. Looking back on our experience, I wish I would have sampled more of the ice cream flavors. I did not sample a specific flavor that I ended up getting for my second scoop. Big mistake. I can only blame that on myself. I feel bad "sampling" a lot because I know some people abuse it. I sampled the Salted Pretzel, which I was in love with and had to have. I went with Salted Pretzel and the Fresh Mint Chocolate Flake. The latter is the flavor that I wish I would've sampled...because it was terrible. I do enjoy and appreciate all the natural flavors that Glacé offers, but the Fresh Mint was not my cup of tea. It left an awful after-taste that lasted for a few hours. I guess I expected it to be too much like Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip (high expectations left me wanting the sugar and fat!). Wrong was I. Oh well, we live and learn. But on more positive notes, the Salted Pretzel was heaven in a cup. I had to remind myself that I was actually eating ice cream and not a giant, salty pretzel! The flavor was on spot. I'll definitely get that flavor again. Douglas ended up with Madagascar Vanilla, which tasted like the most pure version of vanilla in the world. Right on. Very creamy and delectable. The second flavor he ended up with was the Fleur de Sel Caramel. Very tasty and had a pop of caramel flavor. Might have been a little too sweet for me, but it was delicious nonetheless. He had a great idea when he reached the bottom of his cup with a little bit of ice cream left. He mixed the soft and velvety flavors together. What a genius idea! It made the caramel more sublte and the vanilla became even more enhanced with a burst of caramel. The price was right on. Only $3.50 for two scoops! I feel as though I would pay the same if I went to a Baskin Robbins or Dairy Queen. I felt a little bummed since I did not enjoy the Fresh Mint, but again, my fault. I want to go back to Glacé because I want to redeem my opinion. I definitely want to sample more flavors. It's simple to sample because I do not have to get stuck with a flavor I do not like. I'm very curious to try the Blueberry, Coconut Sorbet (which was out when we were there!), Cream Cheese, Christopher Elbow Dark Chocolate & the Sweet Cream. Overall, it was a decent first endeavor. I enjoyed the complimentary water cooler for a fresh cup of water. I'm telling you, it was scorching hot that day! The interior of the joint is hip, clean and refreshing. The staff was quiet but friendly. I look forward to going back again to sample the fresh, inventive and natural flavors that Glacé has to offer.
(3)Joe H.
There really isn't any way to encapsulate the glory and grandeur of Glace' ice cream. They have such fun in crafting their inventive and esoteric flavors that it is pure joy just to contemplate each one... let alone tasting them. They have seasonal flavors, regional flavors, mash-up flavors and the basics (if you can call their versions of chocolate and vanilla 'basic'). You can't go wrong at Glace. If you do, it is because you suffer from buyer's remorse as you covet the flavors you didn't get while basking in the glory of the ones in your cup.
(5)Ken B.
How have I not reviewed Glace yet? Seriously, it's not like I just discovered it or had it for the first time! Assumptions I guess........... I think it's pretty damn cool to have a local, hand-made chocolate store in the city that creates some beautiful and delightfully unique tasting chocolates AND then having a sister store selling ice cream in those exact same flavors. Christopher Elbow reigns supreme! My favorite ice cream is not found at Glace, but a business that starts with an M has my heart. That's just a personal preference of creaminess and taste. But I would never fault Glace for that because what they do they do extremely well. They do *unique* and *different* really well and I love unique and different. My personal favorites are Fleur de sel Caramel, French Lavender and Strawberry Balsamic. The space is super sleek modern and staffed by some extremely friendly people. It's good to note that they do sell pre-packaged pints that are easy to grab as a great gift to bring to anyones house as a fantastic host/hostess gift. Who needs another candle anyway?
(5)Brenda M.
Finally tried this place, actually returned today so that's twice in one week, that's how good it is. They have very unique flavors and if you're unsure what to pick, just ask for a few samples before picking your final selections. I picked the small cup, even though the cup seems small, don't let the size fool you, the ice cream is rich and it's the perfect amount. So far I've sampled the salted pretzel, cream cheese, strawberry balsamic, butternut squash, goat cheese, and rum raisin. My favorites have been strawberry balsamic, and the butternut squash is to die for! The cream cheese is also very yummy, gosh I can't wait to go again. I would say that the price is comparable to other ice cream shops and more creative flavors that make you feel a bit adventurous to say the least. I took some ice cream back to my coworkers today as a nice gesture since it was finally warm enough to be an "ice cream" day (though I eat ice cream in the dead of winter) and they loved it too.
(5)Matt C.
The ice cream is absolutely delicious. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The seating is pretty limited, so expect to take the ice cream with you. Everything is very clean, it is like the place is scrubbed from ceiling to floor on a daily basis. I already want to go back!
(5)Chris P.
Delicious ice cream with fresh, quality ingredients, using super fancy chocolate. Great stop over all. My only complaint is that I wish the ice cream was made on site to guarantee freshness, they said it was made off site at a production facility.
(4)Clifford S.
Ice cream is a great idea to begin with. Have the store open late with friendly staff and all kinds of odd flavors that really worked. No one had told us about this place, we stumbled upon it on our own. I feel the need to spread the word. If you come to Kansas City, you have to come here. You will not regret it and in fact can write me a thank you note right here on Yelp.
(5)Jazz K.
I love love this place, the best flavors ex: wild flower honey, caramel pecan, sweet potato marshmallows. Yummy everything.
(5)Kathleen M.
I love you YELPERS! After the ball game, I just had a tiny corner of hunger that somehow survived the bbq orgy we had in the afternoon. Went to Yelp and read the reviews for this place, plugged the address in the GPS and off we went. (We called first and were so excited they stay open until 11 on the weekends.) Ice cream orgasm Mulitple orgasms - I had Venezuelan Dark chocolate, mint coconut and blackberry chocolate chip which I would cheerfully bathe in. I will sleep well tonight.
(5)Carol A.
This is Ice Cream for grownups. I really love the unusual flavor combos and until I visited Glacé Artisan Ice Cream I'd never heard of salt in ice cream (Fleur de Sel Caramel and Salted Pretzel). For that matter I would not have expected the likes of using Sweet Corn or Goat Cheese either. However, in the deft hands of Christopher Elbow these are little taste bombs that will have you obsessing in the middle of the night. The quality of all ingredients is absolutely primo. All the various flavors are available in two sizes and the only thing you have to decide is which flavor or flavors to have each time you visit. Just remember, You will definitely be back again, so you can always try something else the next time.
(4)Tricia H.
All I can say is absolutely divine!!!!!! 1 scope and I was in LOVE LOVE LOVE..Brought back memories of France :-)
(4)Jimmi H.
Let's kick this off with me just admitting I love sweets. Among my favorite sweets: ice cream. Now that it's known I am working with some pretty high expectations we can move on. Glace you're delicious! The actual location of this place is fine and the space is neat, clean, and very simple. Anyone can see that focus is on the ice cream, as it should be. Mr. Elbow has done a great thing here; he took an age old favorite and made it into something sexy. All natural ingredients, no fake colors or added flavors, just raw ingredients. Much like his chocolates, the flavors are unique and imaginative, they will make you close your eyes with satisfaction but will not knock you over. Mmmmmm. Personal favorites: French Vanilla and Venezuelan Dark Chocolate. I try and always get my third flavor off of the rotating list which is great because there is always something new to sample. Third flavor? No, I am not a total glutton! This place does not cater to the person who just wants to get a ball of ice cream the size of their head that has been worked over by a singing high schooler with 87 different toppings. This place caters to those who want to enjoy a delicious treat with sophisticated flavors. Foodies who will note hints of, whatever to kids who just want a something cold, creamy and sweet will enjoy a stop by here. You can order two sizes and both are well within the "treat" realm. The regular size is my preference and with that comes three small scoops of 1 to 3 flavors, you choose your combination. Chic atmosphere, realistic serving sizes and excellent ice cream. Yum!
(4)Luisa C.
This place has high quality ice cream. Take your time to try the flavors and you'll find something to love. If you are more traditional don't be afraid that they'll only have "weird" flavors. They have a lot to offer! If I lived in KC my inner fat child would be unleashed and the people at this store would know me by name. I would have tubs of this stuff in my home. I would also need to "pimp my ride" and install a mini freezer in my car to keep a not-so-secret stash there. That's right, easy access! I would be so fat from eating this for every meal that there would be no way for me to reach my sides and bathe myself. I'd have to hire someone to do it. That's right. It's that good. The cilantro pineapple is so refreshing, unexpected, and just yummy. The chocolate is so decadent, creamy, dense and light all in one. The dark chocolate spiced with Chilean cinnamon is great. My only gripe is the coconut sorbet. It tastes like sugar water. No real coconut flavor. I have a hard time believing this is natural. If you've ever had real coconut ice cream or sorbet you'll know this is not how it's supposed to taste. I was extremely let down. There was a long line and I didn't take my time to sample it before ordering because I have grown to trust all the flavors here so much! Don't do what I did and don't rush. Sample it all if you need to.
(5)Christina T.
How can you hate Glace? Because they put an addictive chemical in it that makes you crave for it nightly! Some of their flavors are original to ice cream and create an exciting conundrum on the palate. Thai peanut curry?! Cold ice cream that leaves heat in the back of your mouth. And the beautiful ladies behind the cooler are so kind and patient while you sample the flavors to satisfy your curiosity and discover your favorite!
(4)Clarice W.
I came here after a dinner of beer and pizza, and even though I was already stuffed, this ice cream was still amazing. The flavors are unique and modern, they incorporate herbs and and local ingredients (like goat cheese, and even Boulevard beer!) into several flavors. A small size looks small but you can get 2 flavors, so for the slightly pricey $4ish at least you can play with flavor combinations, which I highly recommend trying (I did a creme fraiche + cilantro pineapple sorbet - the balance of richness and refreshing was delightful!). And anyway, this stuff is HEAVY - when they advertise creme fraiche, they MEAN it. And that is what I love about Glace: you can tell what you're eating in the ice cream is real, not some synthetic, laboratory-created flavor. I always have room for ice cream. But I will now have even more room for Glace's!
(5)Daniel H.
I came here with Lilian O. and Ankur B. yesterday around 8:25pm. There was a line that reached the door; in addition, there was maybe one table available inside. The place looked pretty clean as if they opened not too long ago even though other Yelpers' reviews show otherwise. The menu had 24 flavors to choose from and one was a contest winner from one of our very own Kansas City Yelpers, Stacy N.! That flavor was the Roasted Beet with Goat Cheese and I thought that was an interesting flavor to create. I ordered a single scoop of Madagascar Vanilla Bean which tasted pretty good! I need to eventually try all the flavors!
(5)Carrie C.
Ever find yourself walking down the street on a hot and humid Kansas City summer afternoon and yearning for some traditional, All-American ice cream? Yeah, me either. That's why I come here on those hot, humid summer afternoons. Not only is it in a great location with easily accessible parking, but it's right next door to a couple pretty well known and well-Yelped KC restaurants. The flavors here are truly extraordinary and unique! You can't really go wrong with any of them. Rich, velvety, and all-around perfect in every way, every flavor is worth trying. In fact, on several occasions, I've sampled almost half of their available flavors. And, even after said sampling, it was still a tough call on which flavors I wanted to get. BUT, there is one flavor, to this day, that I wish were still there. Now, I know Chris has the Goat Cheese and Honey ice cream these days, but about a year ago, he had a roasted beet and goat cheese ice cream that I swear I could have eaten all day every day for the rest of my life and died happily. It was unbelievable. And this is coming from someone who doesn't particularly like beets. So Chris, if you visit your Yelp page, I beg you, bring this stuff back! But, have no fear, Chris always has the freshest and most exquisite flavors available here in KC. Literally every flavor I've had has been perfect in it's own way. So, go in, sample your butt off, and try an unconventional duet of cool, velvety goodness and you never know, it could very well be the best thing you've ever tasted. I know that I am never - NEVER- disappointed.
(5)Patrick M.
My mouth waters just thinking about the ice cream from Glace. I wish there was a way to get this shipped across the country. Christopher if you read your reviews PLEASE for the love of all that is good and holy get Glace at your San Francisco location!!!!!

Amazing as usual, but slightly disappointed! Last time we were in they had a spicy Christopher Elbow chocolate flavor & I really wanted it, but the guy talked me out of it because they always have it. So instead I got the lemon curd which of course was amazing! Well we went there today specifically for the spicy chocolate & they took it off the menu!!!! It is no longer!! Not even in the freezer!! Please Glacé powers that be if you are listening out there PLEASE bring back some kind of spicy chocolate flavor!! My small little sample was just not enough!!

Lemon Curd ice-cream. And the kicker is - it actually tastes like lemon curd - smooth, tangy and creamy. Delicious is the word I should be using here. Of course, before settling on the lemon curd and Venezuelan dark chocolate combo, I tried many a flavor. Burnt peach, lime basil sorbet, goat cheese cherry...and that's it. Because I actually wanted my own cup of ice-cream. And yes, citrus and chocolate is a magical flavor combination - everyone should try it once. To use my favorite adjective: awesome.

I know that this review may seem blasphemous to many of you Kansas City Yelpers, but I've had better....it's the truth (Molly Moon's in Seattle baby!)! But Glacé Artisan Ice Cream is prolly the best gourmet ice cream that I have ever had in KC. Lots of many unique flavors! Lemon curd, goat cheese and cherries, french lavender, sweet corn...those were just some of the flavors that we tried today! The ice cream is pretty pricey......$3.50 for a small with up to 2 flavor choices and $4.50 for up to 3 flavors. They usually have 24 flavors available, and they will switch them out seasonally. And the ladies there let us sample as much ice cream as we wanted to! I decided to try the Sweet Corn and the French Lavender...what great choices! I've had corn ice cream in the past, and this place was great! It definitely did taste like sweet corn minus the butter. The French Lavender was very delicious as well! It was a little sweet for me compared to other lavender ice creams, but I would definitely get it again. My only problem with this place other than the price was how it was TOO creamy and rich....after a few bites, I just did not even want to finish my ice cream.....blasphemous right? Maybe I just have to come here on an empty stomach next time.... Pros: - lots of unique flavors when you want to try something new instead of your typical vanilla - lots of free sampling here! Cons: - I love ice cream and I never thought I would be unable to finish a scoop, but it almost happened to me today people! This ice cream is RICH and CREAMY! - expensive!! Why I gave it a 3..... This ice cream is tasty and flavorful, but it's just too rich for me! I love how I can mix flavors for no additional costs and the ladies are so nice to let me try 5+ of the flavors while trying to make the decision. If you enjoy savory desserts that are very heavy after a meal, then stop by here! Just make sure you have enough money for the ice cream and an empty stomach!

The first time I tried it, I would've considered it five stars. It was wonderful and different. It's gourmet ice cream with an imagination. It's initially wonderful... ...but then (as Kenny suggested) I got bored. I know it's hard to believe, but it's like shock comedy at some point you habituate to the uniqueness/shock. I love that they change flavors seasonally, but I hate it when they take away one I love (Bourbon chocolate cherry...please come back). My favorite old standard is salted pretzel with their melted chocolate (aka a Christopher Elbow chocolate bar melted...mmm!). Although it's not my favorite frozen dessert in KC, it's a great experience and a wonderful place to take out-of-town guests.

Sweet baby Jesus where has this place been all my life. Butternut squash ice cream? Pineapple cilantro? Salted pretzel? I think I am in love. The fact that they let you get two flavors for the small sized cup is really awesome as well. If you ask them, they will tell you which flavors best compliment each other! Definitely give this place a shot if you are in the KC area. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT.

Like many people I know, I am super picky about desserts and I don't really think that needs much explaining. Glacé's ice creams feature top quality flavors that are rich, unique, and beautiful. Just a tiny scoop will do ya, as many have said before me. Taking the cue from Reed N, I knew I'd want to mix it up a bit and have half sorbet and half ice cream (you get two flavors in a small cup. I recommend the small cup because this is the type of ice cream that you won't want to gorge on). Good choice. That they let you taste the flavors first is a nice touch. Normally I wouldn't be one to be up there holding up the line to taste things, but miracles of miracles on this 106 degree day there was no line to speak of (note: people really should be considerate and not be tasting more than one or two. It's just good manners) and so I tasted two flavors before making my decision. Now if I hadn't tasted it first, I would have been stuck with a flavor that I did not like (Thai peanut). Just wasn't for me. Instead I went with a more "pedestrian" ice cream flavor (as if anything could be called "pedestrian" in here), fleur de sel caramel mixed with pineapple cilantro. The sorbet was twice as flavorful as the ice cream which worked, as the ice cream is the creamiest I've ever had. The caramel was super sweet, which eclipsed the actual salted caramel flavor. That's not to say all flavors are too sweet. The Thai Peanut was more savory. I *adored* that pineapple sorbet, by the way. I probably would have been happier just sticking to all sorbet to be honest, but I am compelled to return and try more of those creative flavors. Not a fan of the decor and acoustics as I prefer dark and cozy to bright and sleek (that said, I'd be hard pressed to think of a dark and cozy ice cream parlour :) Plus, oh my god, is it *loud* in there. Get a group of kids or teens at one table and you'll be running for the door. Or, maybe I'm just sensitive. It's like you're in an echo chamber. The service was truly excellent. The folks behind the counter do not blink twice when you're indecisive and I know I personally could never work there and maintain a friendly expression.
(4)Matt B.
As good as you can find in KC. It's getting 4 stars based upon the fact that KC has very few really good places for frozen cow treats. I am a sucker for lavender ice cream so that is what I had. French lavender to be exact. For me, to much French, not enough lavender. If you know the difference between regular vanilla and French vanilla then you would be able to distinguish the difference here. Still I think it was good. My biggest complaint would be the freakishly large amount of money it required for my wife and I to get two small servings.
(4)Kim B.
I was excited to cool off with some gourmet ice cream and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. The ice cream here is very creamy and delicious and the flavors are really unique. I enjoyed everything I tasted but found it hard to commit to just one flavor. I finally selected two flavors and couldn't finish my cup because I got sick of both after a few bites. After a certain point, I found the ice cream to be TOO rich and creamy. I would suggest sharing with a friend.
(3)Brandi C.
I love this place. In fact, it would be downright embarrassing for me to admit how often I'm there if it wasn't so freaking good! As an added bonus, they have a little customer loyalty card that will get you free ice cream once you visit often enough, so that just further encourages my obsession. The sorbets are incredibly flavorful; in fact, they can be pretty intense, so I like to mix up my sorbet to ice cream ratio to balance things out a bit. (The ice creams also have great flavor, but they're more "delicate" than the sorbets.) One sorbet flavor to two ice cream flavors is my personal preference, but that's just me. (Yeah, not only am I there a lot, I also get the 3 flavor option. The shame.) My personal favorite, the flavor I consistently get every time, is the Venezuelan spiced chocolate. It's amazing - a dark, rich chocolate with just a hint of heat at the end. I haven't had anything I didn't like, though my husband found the Mango Passion fruit sorbet to be a bit too over the top, and he couldn't finish his serving. The last time I was in I tried the Grapefruit Hibiscus sorbet, and all I can say about that is that if you get it, I hope you like grapefruit, because that's another flavor that doesn't mess around. The line can be out the door, and people do go a bit nuts trying to taste every flavor before they finally choose, but I figure that just gives me more time to decide what's going to go best with my spiced chocolate each time around.

Well, Mr Elbow is a hard working dude. He'll help whip up some glace' and then come out and run the register. Not sure of the technique to make this stuff as I didn't ask. I highly suspect the french pot/gelato method. Very concentrated flavor is the key... especially in the sorbet/fruit flavors. That is where you will be wowed. As tempting as the Creme Fraiche is [I had it] and the Fleur de Sel Caramel [had that, too], the fruit is where heaven exists. The creamy flavors are merely purgatory... a transport mechanism to get you to the fruit heaven. Pineapple Cilantro anyone? Lime Basil? Hmm??? I thought so. If there was an apple-based flavor I'd run for the hills... the stuff is sinful enough... and that overture would just scare me. ; ) Speaking of which, there are good restaurants up and down this street, and everyone's dessert menu, save for Andre's, just went to hell. Awesome place.
(5)David A.
*****YUM***** Wow! Don't forget the sorbet people! I'm lactose intolerant, so that's what I checked out. Quite a few flavors. I had grapefruit and some Pineapple concoction. To die for! The small is just plenty for you. You can get plenty of free samples. You can enjoy it inside or outside. Just be prepared to wait. The line was out the door! NOT BAD for the 1st week of being open! WAY TO GO CHRISTOPHER ELBOW!
(5)Krista B.
Nothing makes my day better than ending it with Glace. You may think it is just another ice cream shoppe but you would be wrong. It is an amazing place to make even the worse day better.
(5)Susan N.
Confession: I never got around to trying the ice cream last year. Shame on me. So when I heard that Christopher Elbow is opening up a separate ice cream place just south of the Plaza, I was super excited. You see, ice cream is my kryptonite, my one weakness and true love, and it's almost downright embarrassing that I never tried it last year. When they opened up, I was excited. I promised to take my friend and the beau here this past weekend. I talked it up. But what if it wasn't any good? That's when I decided to go mid-week last week and get a cup of the good stuff. I had to do my duty as guinea pig and take the hit. Oh, the sacrifices I make! That day I ended up sampling a few and getting a combo of the Venezuelan spiced chocolate and salty pretzel. The spice and saltiness of that combo helped offset each other. Then this weekend... this time around I picked the lemon curd and fleur de sel caramel, which didn't exactly mix together, but each on their own was phe-nom-nom-nom-me-nal. Next time it'll be the goat cherry cheese with cherry, which is another favorite. (Honestly, what isn't a favorite there?) The flavors were so sharp and stood out, while the ice cream itself was smooth and somewhat creamy. They also have a nice selection of sorbets, which are great for the vegans and lactose intolerants. Prices are just right for the quality you get and they are pretty good about packing the ice cream into the cup so you get more and it's not just air.
(5)Christopher K.
We had the dark chocolate spiced ice cream: the most complex flavors that comes out in stages. It was amazing!
(5)Cait M.
Yum! So many different flavors to choose from and not your average flavors either! I liked that they let you get two different flavors in the small. The staff was super friendly. I'm looking forward to venturing back to try more!
(4)jennifer j.
I call it ice cream for adults. The kind of flavors that can be appreciated after years of tasting different foods and flavors. I don't like the "everything but the kitchen sink" ice cream concoctions sold at the grocery store. I want fresh, quality ice cream. Christopher delivers. Today I stopped by Spin to pick up a salad and popped into Glace to check it out. Unfortunately, Ma & Pa Kettle strolled in before me and spent 20 minutes just deciding what to taste, then the next 20 minutes tasting them. Hey folks, I know retirement is fun, but maybe it would be more fun if you didn't explore KC during the height of the lunch hour when people are on the clock? I felt sorry for the young girl that looked helplessly at the snaking line before her, while trying to be polite. She was too fresh faced to know the art of multitasking, but give her a couple months. Due to press, chatting with Elbow and a quick scan of the flavors I already planned on which two I wanted to try. Pineapple Cilantro Sorbet & Goat Cheese Cherry. Tried both, both 2 pints of both with some Venezuela Chocolate thrown in for good measure. The Goat Cheese Cherry is is divine and creamy, the Pineapple Cilantro is bright tangy and screams summer. Once you get your flavors figured out, it is just easier to buy a ready made pint in the freezer next to the register. Thanks Christopher! You have elevated a childhood favorite.
(5)Trang B.
interestinggg flavors. i got honey lavender, never a disappointment for me, and honey goat cheese. it got a bit too goat cheese-ey after a while. two people serving, line full of people who cant make up their minds, so it took a while. can't blame the service
(5)Rhonda S.
O M G Indescribable. Wow, the line was clear to the door. By the time I got to the counter, I had no idea which flavor to eat. My 19 year old chose the mango/passion fruit sorbet. It was the exact color of a big, juicy mango. We also bought a pint of vanilla bean. It's for my step-dad's birthday, so don't tell him. It was a tough decision when I had to make my mind up. I chose caramelized peach ice cream, with mango/passion fruit sorbet. I can't describe it. The peaches were in chunks that I could actually see in the ice cream, and bite into. The mango/passion fruit sorbet was heavenly. There is a chocolate sorbet, but I'm not a chocolate fan. But there's so much more: Lavender ice cream, mint ice cream, pineapple/cilantro sorbet, among the choices. The line and crowd were such that I didn't want to waste people's time trying other flavors. That's fine, I'll be back. It's the greatest $3.71 I've spent in a long time. There's a few chairs inside to eat, and a couple of tables outside. We were lucky, and got an outside table. I'm going to try other flavors. I suspect that the line, in the location that the shop is in, will always be long.
(5)Alicia R.
Mmm...so unique and tasty! Definitely not your regular ice cream shop. Every flavor is such an experience, it's not ice cream you just scarf down. They have about 24 flavors daily, and toppings include fancy chocolate, caramel, and balsamic strawberry. You can get a sundae, but I think most folks go for straight ice cream. In a small cup you can try two flavors, in a regular cup, three. I believe the regular cup is $4.50 - a bit pricey, but this is special, and as the names states, artisan. They also have a few ice cream bars available, as well as pints to take home. Flavors I have tried, in order of favorites: Bananas Foster - tastes almost like banana bread, beautiful Peanut butter chocolate - so peanutty, with nice deep chocolate swirl Blackberry chocolate flake - one of the few things I've had that really tastes like blackberry Mango sorbet - tastes like a Naked drink, very sweet and mangoey Fleur de sel caramel - very rich flavor, a bit on the salty side Goat cheese and cherry - savory, but good, wish it had a few more cherries French lavender - this is such a surprising flavor, must try, but I don't recommend getting a whole bowl of it as it's a bit strong, get it with another flavor Fresh mint chip - definitely tastes like fresh mint, interesting, but once was enough Blueberry lemon sorbet - nice flavor, but the lemon was a bit too tart for me, boyfriend enjoyed There are a couple tables inside, and a few outside. Free water jug inside. Unless you are going to get it and go, I'd come with no more than a couple friends if you want to sit.
(4)V K.
Amazing! I still haven't physically been here but my client has brought ice cream from here to the office several times and there hasn't been a single flavor I haven't LOVED.
(5)Mopsie B.
Very delicious ice creams in interesting and compelling flavors. I stumbled onto this place over the weekend and was glad I did. I am not sure what makes it "artisan"-- I didn't see anywhere who makes it or if the ingredients are organic but I will say that both the blueberry and the lemon curd ice creams seemed to me to be entirely authentic and full of natural flavors. I also did not notice any artificial colors. That's important to me. I will definitely be back for more someday soon! Bonus for the friendly, knowledgeable "scooper."
(4)Andrew K.
Utterly perfect for a summer night. Bring a friend, order a variety of flavors, and indulge. Be prepared to wait in peak times - they seem chronically understaffed.
(5)Noor B.
I love ice cream and was really hoping that this place would be delicious. I had the blackberry chocolate chip. It was pretty good, but there was no hint of blackberry beyond the food dye used in the batter. The toasted coconut ice cream had no depth of flavor; mixing dried sweetened coconut into a sweet cream batter is disappointing. I feel the ratings for this shop are a little too high based on what I had, though I would be willing to go back and try it again.
(3)Collin P.
Love it. They have banana ice cream, I'm hooked. Also, you've got to try Christopher Elbow's chocolates, delish!
(4)Frank L.
A bit pricey, but well worth it. Where else can you get Curry or goat cheese ice bream? I also like the fact that I could get three flavors in my large. I would say that the banana was my favorite, but then again, I love bananas. The only downside was the line..holy moly..it was out the door and then some. Try to get there before the rush.
(4)Angela K.
I should be able to add a 6th star! They added a freezer out front (due to the suggestion in my review, I'M SURE!) that offers pre-handpacked pints to go so I bet that helps keep the line moving much faster now. Still awesome! Got the caramelized peach today. YUM!
(5)Scott H.
Very minimalist ice cream shop. Fancy and interesting flavors, including Venezuelan dark chocolate, sweet potato, bananas foster, and sweet corn. Always creamy and delicious, though staff can be a bit surly. Check it out if you're in the area and craving something different than your typical ice cream parlor.
(4)Joanna M.
Oh I do love me some artisan ice-cream...such a wonderful find in Kansas City and literally blocks from my home. The fat kid in me is doing a happy dance as we speak! I'm already daydreaming about the flavors I will try in the future...and looking forward to my next visit. I had the Elbow dark chocolate and the mint ice-cream this time around; I probably wouldn't get the mint again (just didn't hit the spot for me) but the dark chocolate was decadent and simply scrumptious. However, I really wish this place was bigger and had more seating for a busy after-dinner crowd (it's hard to hang out here after dinner because of the lack of seating). I also felt sorry for the single girl that was working that warm Sunday night as the line was out the door...prepare for a wait if you're coming when it's busy but it's totally worth it!
(5)Natalie O.
I love to mix and match! My sister loves the goat cheese.
(5)Brittany J.
A more accurate rating would be three and a half stars, but four will do. There are so many options and the ice cream is very high-quality that you can't complain too much. I LOVED the goat cheese with honey flavor and the caramelized pineapple. My son had the spicy chocolate and the spice was no joke. The prices were a bit high for the portions, but you are paying for a gourmet experience. Still worth the trip.
(4)Julia C.
Loved Glace. It is an ice cream that has delicious and organic flavors. It also has the weird sounding flavors such as Vietnamese Cinnamon, Salted Pretzel or Candied Ginger. I ordered the Roasterie Organic Ethiopian Coffee, Fleur de Sel Caramel and French Lavender. Before you think that I am a glutton for ordering the "large", I was actually sharing with my husband. The flavors are very rich and so a little amount is actually quite filling. All of the said flavors above are delicious and worth trying. The reason why I am not going to give it 5 stars because my heart still belongs to Columbus, Ohio's Jeni's Ice Cream. The texture is the smoothest and freshest there. It is and will be, my only favorite ice cream store.
(4)Brandon R.
Seriously if you are out in midtown and you find yourself fancying some ice cream, you should definitely make your way down main street near the Plaza Library be sure to go and get yourself some Glace! The flavors are very weird and unique from Fleur de Sel Caramel to Goat cheese and Wildflower honey. I'm not going to go through and list them all-because they vary season to season and saying what they are doesn't really do them justice. The great thing about this place is they have a really friendly staff and they provide samples because they know all the flavors might appear jarring to the new person at first. I would say its a must for people who fancy the ice cream and new things. The only problem with the whole place is a general complaint about the prices vs quantity, but that's a silly complaint because they make their own product and it's unique and delicious.
(4)Anna B.
Glace is seriously remarkable for my senses and seriously tragic for my waistline! This place can turn even the biggest skeptic into a full-blown ice cream addict. The flavor combinations are completely unique. The texture is delectable. The outcome is mind-blowing. Christopher Elbow you are an angel. Seriously...salted caramel, goat cheese and beet, French lavender...need I say more?
(5)J A.
On a recent visit to Kansas City we found this KC Gem through Yelp. We were browsing around the Country Club Plaza and felt the need for some ice cream. Make the walk or drive to Glace'. Small batch ice cream made with fresh, local ingredients. The flavors were nothing like '31 flavors' (ugh). The flavors were foodie unique and delicious. Next visit to KC I will be back at Glace'!
(5)Deandra A.
I have been here twice, and both experiences have been excellent. The ingredients are local and the flavor is out of this world. I always end up trying multiple ice creams before making my selection and they are all good.
(5)Biaggio O.
Glacé, by Christopher Elbow (Kansas City chocolate maker). Hands down the best ice cream I have ever had in my life, period. Everything is made locally with real, fresh ingredients. Flavors are seasonal and include variations on chocolate, fruits, flowers, spices, etc. (e.g. lime cilantro, caramel, spiced chocolate, bananas foster, blueberry, salted pretzel). I have been to many other places purported as "the best", and none of them come close to this. A must try for anyone visiting Kansas City.
(5)Stephanie W.
The flavors are amazing, you never know what the genius of Christopher Elbow will come up with next! The Boulevard ice cream is delightful. Mainstay favorites include salted pretzel with the dark chocolate. The sorbets are always delightful and amazing. Great place to entertain out of town guests.
(5)Julia F.
Christopher Elbow has delighted Kansas City natives and visitors with remarkable chocolate, and now one can indulge in the great treat of gourmet ice cream. Flavors such as French Lavender; Ricotta, Caramelized Figs, and Honey; Sweet Corn; or Venezuelan Spiced Chocolate go fathoms beyond anything one can order from Baskin-Robbins. Glacé surely goes beyond thirty-one flavors, but many of the options appear to be seasonal. But patrons will not feel their selections could be called limited when they taste the frozen flavors at Glacé; the freshness of the ingredients is evident in the products of this boutique ice cream parlor. The greatest caveat of a visit to Glacé Artisan Ice Cream is that it may be hard for anyone to go back to the old ice cream of other brands.
(4)Jessica E.
I've been here a few times now and it has been consistently delish! Last night, after a quick dinner at Spin, we conveniently walked to Glacé. This time around, I tried the sour cream ice cream paired with the salted pretzel (my go-to). The sour cream is what you'd expect, but not (does that make sense?). What I'm trying to say is, the thought of eating sour cream ice cream doesn't seem that enticing, but trust me when I say that it's so. worth. it. K had cinnamon (which he RAVED about) paired with his go-to, the caramel. We'll definitely be back again (and again and again and again).
(5)Stacy N.
I'm not trying to brag, but I had a truly unique, Glacé experience today. They held a contest over the last month to create a new flavor. I was delighted when I found out that my flavor was in the top 3, and simply amazed when it was chosen as the winner! Part of the prize was getting to make my flavor (Roasted Beet with Goat Cheese) with Christopher Elbow. Well, that is how I spent part of my morning! I'm moving my review up to five stars for a couple of reasons. One, I have been frequenting Glacé more often, and simply fall for it more and more each time. Two, the decor that seemed so cold, and slightly off-putting to me before has been growing on me. Perhaps it is the warmer weather we are seeing, or maybe I'm just in a different mental space than before. And three, my experience today! It was so much fun to see behind the scenes. Everyone was so relaxed, nice, generous, funny, and I simply had a great time chatting, and making some ice cream! Thank you again for such a nice time. I will be back often - even if I have to wait in line for a while. It is so worth it.
(5)Ainy H.
The variety of different and unique flavors that I haven't seen anywhere else made it hard to pick JUST ONE. Before ordering two flavors for a small size cup (which is a large enough size since the ice cream is rich), I ask to taste test several flavors. I don't remember what I tried except that salted pretzel and fleur de sel caramel tasted the same. I ended up ordering chai and roasterie single origin costa rican. I liked chai better. I would come back to try the rest of the flavors.

Stopped in with Classy Mike for a little bit of gluttony on our road trip from New York to Los Angeles. Every once in a while, you find a place that surprises you. After an incredibly disappointing BBQ meal at Jack Stack, we trudged into Glace, dejected. But Glace found that magical way to turn our frowns upside down. Nestled just outside of a large downtownish area (which we liked much less upon discovering it wasn't a quaint section of KC but rather a huge outdoor mall), and next to place that's like Hooters but does haircuts instead of wings & beer, Glace is somewhat out of place, in a good way. As I've mentioned elsewhere, unusual flavors are usually a bad sign, but Glace lets you know right away they aren't messing around - even the young girl behind the counter suggested I pair Fleur de Sel Caramel with Salted Pretzel (such sophistication!). I also added some dark chocolate, which was like buttah. We ate ice cream all across the country, and this place is one of the best. Food: 23/25 stars Ambiance: 20/25 stars Service: 25/25 stars Bathroom: didn't use it Probability of going back: 100% (if in KC again)
(5)Kenny N.
I visit Kansas City 2-3 times a year and with each visit I see what Glace is producing. In contrast to Corey O.'s ecstatic review and his comment "you won't get bored with the flavors here", I have gotten bored. They do produce a superior product, but I have gotten bored even though I visit rarely. When I pay $4 for a small cup (1-2 flavors incl. tax), I want to enjoy superior quality (check), superior ingredients (check), and also bold experimentation. I want my taste buds challenged with unique flavor profiles. Orange Pekoe tea? Had that months ago. Balsamic and fruit? Done that. Please challenge me Glace. I wish I hadn't missed your Goat Cheese and Beets.
(4)Emily S.
I have loved Christopher Elbow's chocolates for years so when I heard that he was opening an ice cream shop in KC I couldn't wait to try it. And boy, I was not disappointed! We take everyone who travels through Kansas City to get ice cream here because it's so good and really showcases the best of what we have to offer! The ice cream is fresh and delicious every time. You only need a small amount because the flavors are so rich and intense. Each flavor tastes like the actual ingredient, not a chemical concoction. You haven't had mint chocolate chip ice cream until you've had Christopher's! This guy is passionate about what he does and it shows. So next time you have friends in town, take them here! You won't be disappointed!
(5)Stephen H.
Grabbed a small cup today, two flavors: ethiopian coffee and goat cream cheese. Perfect for a hot day, though the heat didn't let it last.
(5)Corey O.
Okay...sooo there's not much to add here that the other 97 people haven't said. WONDERFUL. You won't get bored with the flavors here. You get something unique and of course, executed perfectly. The ice cream is great. They've got to-go pints for around $7.50. They have the Elbow European Sipping (Hot) Chocolate and Eblow Chocolate Mochas. Truly a great spot to bring someone in from out of town and pretend like you're there every day :)
(5)Amanda F.
I am a HUGE ice cream lover. I can't get enough of it or froyo, between the two you might consider me a freak. Enough about me, lets move on to Glace. I think this place is great, I also really enjoy the Christopher Elbow chocolate as well. The flavor range is vast and very unique. There are some odd combo's but it is totally worth trying out. The one downside it is very pricey, I totally support and understand why but it is hard to shell out that much for very little.
(4)Holly U.
I think the salted pretzel ice cream is quite possibly the best ice cream I have ever had (and I've eaten a lot of ice cream). My husband and I went to Glacé after dinner the night we stopped over in Kansas City on a road trip. I tried a few different flavors and decided on a "regular" cup with the salted pretzel, cream cheese and fleur de sel caramel. My husband got a small cup of peanut butter-chocolate. It was expensive, but there was a lot in the cup. Also, it was amazingly delicious. Wish I could bring the shop home with me.
(5)Sammie P.
Superb, quality, taste, experience.......creamery, sugars, spice, everything is so nice. you can't go wrong here, they let you taste before you purchase. Easily the best quality icecream treat in the kansas city area. exquisite!!!!!!!!
(5)Don H.
I remember being into micro-batch ice creams way back in the late nineties. I went to the local grocery store in Detroit and they had the tastiest ice creams ever. Now that sorta process is pretty standard. After having a home-cooked meal, my friend took us by Glacèe to bring a few pints home. It's not cheap, for sure, but it sure does make your mouth water for more. We took two home: the salted caramel (amazing!) and the beer, which I've never thought to do before. Two pints were $12 (if memory serves). They have some space for eating in, but this is one of those places that seems best for taking home anyway.
(3)Danielle S.
Dear Rich Douchebags, I know you're used to stepping on the little people, but generally, when there's a line well out the door, it's not kosher to skip just because your friends are hanging out farther up in the queue. After watching this happen no fewer than FIVE times, and often with groups of two or more people, my soul died a little. Those of us behind you like ice cream too. In fact, we like it so much, we didn't punch you in the back of the head, because that would have undoubtedly cut our chances for sweet, sweet cream. But seriously, try not to be such an ass next time. Kisses, Dani Okay, now that I've addressed THAT, the ice cream was actually pretty damn tasty. I chose the fleur de sel caramel and the wildflower honey goat cheese varieties, and the salted caramel was tres yummy. The goat cheese was slightly disappointing, but only because it was not enough cheese and too much honey for my tastes. I also nabbed a few tastes of pistachio (delicious and savory) and Venezuelan spiced chocolate (incredibly intriguing) from my friends. All in all the ice cream was totally worth the line...and the raised blood pressure from the jerkwad line-cutters.

Ice cream, the very stuff dreams are made of. Frozen phenomena, bliss in a bowl, contentedness in a cone. If it's one of those miserable, humid, sweltering summer days that no shady awning can cure, ice cream is an oasis. If it's a miserably cold, chilled down to the bone sort of winter night that grandma's knit blanket can't remedy, ice cream. Birthday party? Ice cream. Breakfast? Ice cream. Weight room? Ice cream. Just ice cream. And there's no better place to ice cream than Glace, when you're in the neighborhood. Or even if you're not in it, find it. With killer combos like cilantro and pineapple or goat cheese and wildflower honey for the distinguished palate, and good ol' sweet cream or mandarin orange sorbet for any range of tastebuds, Glace is sure to please. I swore I'd be adventurous my first visit...but once I spotted the blueberry crisp and bananas foster flavors, any decision had been effectively removed from my hands. I tasted every available flavor (each location differs ever so slightly) and they were all fantastic, though, so close your eyes and point and you'll end up with magic. Each single order comes with dual scoops, which you can mix and match as you please. My scoop of blueberry crisp was otherworldly; smooth and creamy, with fresh blueberry and crumbles of still flaky pie crust swirled in. Scoop two, bananas foster, stood up to the already high expectations with a sweet, caramelized banana richness and velvety texture throughout. No need for added toppings or other fluff here, the full bodied fresh dairy and quality ingredients speak for themselves. Glace, because, ice cream.
